The trend of lightweight materials will drive the global demand for magnesium
with the global trend of lightweight materials mixing PE and heat-resistant inorganic particles or PP to prepare battery diaphragms for quantification and environmental protection, magnesium, which is the lightest of common metal materials, has good castability and can shield electromagnetic waves, is expected to see a sharp increase in demand in the future
according to the report "overview of future strategic industries" recently released by Korea Industrial Research Institute, it is expected that the global magnesium market will develop at an average annual growth rate of 7.1% between 2016 and 2016
the specific gravity of magnesium is only equivalent to two-thirds of aluminum and one-quarter of iron. The specific strength (light and the capacity of the electronic UTM experimental machine often used by Jinan experimental machine factory is 100 ~ 135000 LB strong) is equivalent to six times that of iron. It is a typical lightweight material with high formability. At the same time, it is also an environmental protection material that can be recycled and reused
previously, magnesium was mainly an additive material of aluminum alloy. Recently, with the development of technology, it is more used in small electronic products such as notebook computers and environmental friendly lightweight vehicles, medical treatment, aviation and other fields. Experts expect that the demand will continue to grow in the future
About 85% of the total global magnesium supply comes from China, and Chinese enterprises also occupy an absolutely dominant position among the major magnesium production enterprises. The supply of magnesium materials in the Korean market also mostly depends on imports from China. At present, South Korea cannot independently produce pure magnesium ingots. Small and medium-sized enterprises still have some deficiencies in the manufacturing technology of magnesium alloy billets (raw materials are compressed into cylinders, which are easy to be processed into parts)in 2015, the total import volume of magnesium materials in South Korea was 26104 tons. Pure magnesium ingots are widely used in the market and have great development potential, accounting for 54% of exports and 31% of magnesium alloys. In 2015, magnesium components used in South Korea were mainly used in the field of automotive parts such as headlights, bogie cores and brackets
on the other hand, developed countries around the world are boldly adopting magnesium materials in transportation equipment, and accelerating the development of new magnesium alloy materials. The car seat of TGV of French high-speed train adopts AZ91 magnesium alloy, and the flame retardant magnesium alloy developed in Japan has been partially used in some second-generation body parts of aerotrain of the United States. In South Korea, the Korean Institute of materials has successfully developed mass production technology for recycled metals and nonflammable magnesium alloys for casting. At present, high corrosive magnesium alloys are being developed by adding calcium, yttrium and other alloy components
